Day 13 – Hotel in Mugi Town
So I sleep in and 10 am rolls around and I finally rise from bed. The feet are not too bad. I pack up and then have excellent coffee with the hostelier. After that, I head to Temple 23 and it is huge. Not as nice as Temple 21 but very impressive. Lawsons for breakfast and some food to go. I head to the coast to the Sun Line section of the trail. I am hoping it as nice as what I have read. Up we go and 7 kms later I am at the first vista. Beautiful. The road walk is not bad and the traffic is very light. Many pictures later, I end up on what is probably the old highway road. It is a lovely walk on the coast. I stop at a temple for lunch and then proceed to Mugi Town. I am walking to my hotel when I am stopped by a very old lady. Wonderful woman. We use Google Translator to communicate and come to find out she owns the five oldest buildings in town…165 years old. She says they are a money pit. Out of nowhere, a young lady from Osaka stops and offers to help me find my hotel. She is a nurse and just quit her job and is home for the weekend to see her parents. We find my hotel and I check in. I had no reservation which was a shock to the nurse. I told her I had no idea how far I would get that day. The hotelier is very nice but speaks no English. Google Translate again to the rescue. Everything turns out fine. I settle it and drink some green tea. Do my laundry and hang it to dry. Off to the 7/11 for some dinner. I ask directions and an elderly couple points me in the right directions…then observes and directs my progress from a spot on the bridge. Definitely do not want the foreigner to get lost! So nice. I get dinner and head back here. Eat and now I am blogging my last two days. I need to edit two videos next and then get some sleep. Talk to ya soon.
