Day 17 – M. Misono

Well, coming off Temple 26 was terrible. It rained buckets. I had a poncho and it kept my core dry but I have never been rained on like that. Temple 26 is elevated and the paths coming down were just flooded. It took me an hour to navigate to the bottom and I feel lucky not to have injured myself. Three more hours walking in a downpour really dampens ones day…seriously. On the bright side, it was not hot and humid. I steadily made progress until I arrived at M. Misono. I had made arrangements to stay the prior evening but there was a little communication difficulty. I dropped my bag and started walking to an onsen. A call from Misono had me walk back and wait for her. After a bit, the two Aussies I met two days ago showed up. Happy times! We wait an hour and Ms. Misono shows up in a flurry of settling us in and making dinner. She is the type of lady that takes care of everyone around her. She is up at 5 am and goes to bed at 10 pm. Everything inbetween is her taking care of other people. She raised four sons…very active sons according to her. Dinner was spot on and then Ms. Misono drove me to the onsen. Tanotano Onsen is the best onsen I have been to so far. I highly recommend. 1 hour later I am picked up and ready for bed. Good night all.
